A Creative Research on the Visualization of
Urban Imagery in New York City

Let’s rethink what can truly represent a city. Instead of souvenirs, why not use methodologies for visualizing urban images and element extraction to create a set of new souvenirs that can be cherished by both tourists and locals?

This creative research used Umberto Eco’s three levels of sign translation: congruences, projections, and graphs (or structural transformation) to extract and transition into a series of surface patterns.
